I was so sorry to read of Joan's death. As we haven't been in touch for number of years, I was unaware her health had become so compromised.

Joan and I, like many others, became friends at the VNA. End-of-life care always held a special place in her heart and, around 1991 when the Madison-Deane Initiative was forming, Joan volunteered to be a part of the initial planning committee, creating a program for education regarding quality care at the end

I worked with Joan at the VNA for a number of years, but I first met her when she taught the first quilting class I ever took. I took two more quilting classes with Joan, and it was a delight to meet her again when I started working at the VNA. She was kind and patient and I'm glad to have known her.

So sorry to see your Mom's obituary. I remember her fondly from all thee evening she came to pick you up at work in Essex at good ole Hannaford's.I never knew her not to have a smile upon her face This journey of life is passing all of us by too quickly.

Joan will be long remembered by her friends. She was so talented. Her quilting projects were creative and beautiful. She was an artist. She taught many of her friends to quilt and was always available to give a helping hand. She was one of 4 women who met frequently and shared a number of various fun activities together.
