David Lyle Kost died Wednesday April 26, 2017 in his sleep following a tragic struggle with substance abuse. Dave was born in Tucson Arizona, the son of Maury Kelley Kost and Larry Lyle Kost. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Burlington Vermont. He attended Burlington High School, received his BS in Environmental Chemistry from Johnson State College, and his Masters in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Dave worked for IBM/Global Foundries for 19 years, coordinating the Essex facilities' waste water treatment plant. Dave married the love of his life, Kimberly Kost, on July 21 2001. To Dave and Kim's delight, their son Ozzie Lyle Kost was born December 15 2004, and their daughter Myra Kelley Kost was born September 24 2006. Dave loved being a father, loved playing with his kids, coaching their little league teams, playing Connect-4 with Myra, attending their school concerts and baseball games, and taking them to the Lake Monsters games. Dave made friends wherever he went. He loved music, loved to party, and loved to barbecue for family and friends. He was especially devoted to his brothers Brian and Jason. They enjoyed wonderful weekends at the family camp in Elmore Vermont listening to music, fishing, and camping. They spent many great weekends at the racetracks in Limerock, Watkins Glen, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. He leaves his mother Maury, his Stepmother Rhonda, his brothers Brian and Jason, his beloved former wife Kimberly and her partner Chris Lamountain, his adored children Ozzie and Myra, and his cats Ernie and Bert. He was predeceased by his father Larry December 26, 2015. He also leaves devoted aunts and uncles Ronald and Carla Kost of Cleveland TX, Ray and Austa Sue Kelley of Sugarland TX, Jim and Fran Kelley of La Porte TX, Sandy Burt of Orangeburg SC, and his beloved aunt Nancy Hopwood of Ann Arbor MI. Dave leaves many memories, funny stories, and many dear friends in Burlington and beyond. We will always miss his beautiful spirit, his boundless energy, his warm sense of humor, and his amazing enthusiasm. If there is a little league team at the heavenly ballpark, Dave will forever be the enthusiastic 3rd base coach. Calling hours will be Saturday April 29 from 4-6 pm at Ready Funeral Home, 261 Shelburne Rd. Funeral services will be held Sunday April 30 at 1:00 pm, also at Ready. Burial will be private.
