Frank Dale Lee, 78, passed away on February 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was a husband for 58 years of June (Gibson) Lee. Born April 26, 1938 in Flint Michigan, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Ruth (Friend) Lee. Frank was a loving father, grandfather (Poppi) and great-grandfather. He was a member of the U.S. Navy (1956 - 1960) during the Suez Canal Crisis. Frank was employed by Millbrook Bread and General Electric, where he retired in 1993. He enjoyed many outdoor activities but his love of Paso Fino horses, riding, training and breeding provided him with the most joy. His accomplishments as Reserve Grand National Champion for Amateur Owner for Paso Finos thrilled him and provided him many great stories. On any given day, when not working, you could find Frank on Lake Champlain enjoying his favorite sport, fishing. He loved being involved with his children's sports, baseball, softball and figure skating. He provided support to the teams in coaching and umpiring as well as mentoring. Frank was an active member of the American Legion and Eagles clubs as well as a longtime member of the Elks. Frank is survived by five children, Michael Lee and his wife Jennifer of Burlington, Patrick Lee and his wife Justin of Shelburne, Suzanne Lee of Burlington, Michelle Ballard and her husband Layne of Gettysburg, PA, and Christopher Lee and his wife Carrie of Burlington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sisters Sharon Johnson and Myrna Loy Fraley of Flint, MI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Melinda Saxon in 2005. A private service with the family will be held in the summer of 2017. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, New England Chapter, in memory of Melinda Saxon. -
