George Coutrayer, of Burlington, Vermont passed away on January 31, 2018, after a long battle with dementia. George was born on January 8, 1953 in Harlem, NY, the son of Edward Knight & Emily Coutrayer. He graduated from Harlem Community Prep, The Street Academy & Johnson State College and went on to work at GE & the City of Burlington. He loved coaching basketball & fishing, but was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Janet Harvey-Coutrayer, his children Isaac, Olivia, Jesse and Troy Coutrayer (Krystal, Cameron and Clark); Lawanda Legault (John, Kalob and Brandon); Elaina Armstead (Jermaine); his sisters Francis Clark and Elaine Brathwaite; Andy and Johanne Coutrayer; and his ex-wife, LouAnn Beninati. He was pre-deceased by his parents and siblings William, Mickey, & Rusty. We will celebrate George’s life on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 10:00 AM at the 1st Universalist Unitarian Church in Burlington, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VT Alzheimer's Association.
