Joanne Elizabeth (Dorn) Kilburn went to be with her Savior on Saturday March 11, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving husband of sixty years (S. Lee Kilburn), their children Brian W. Kilburn of Bolton, Vermont, Martha Bunnell-Pollak of Dunedin, Florida, Jeffrey Kilburn of Bethlehem, Georgia, Peter Kilburn of Grand Isle, Vermont, Steven Kilburn of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and her sister Lois D. Hawkins of Dunedin, Florida. Joanne is survived by sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Joanne was born May 18, 1937 to Paul and Martha Dorn of Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1955 where she played flute in the marching band. Following high school she attended Burlington Business College, and then went on to graduate from Child Evangelism Fellowship Institute in Warrenton, Missouri. She worked as a homemaker caring for her large, loud and loving family, and was an active member of the Jericho Congregational Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher. Although teaching was her talent and passion (especially when spreading the word of the Lord), Joanne was also graced with the gift to knit, paint, garden, arrange flowers and landscapes, and was an accomplished seamstress creating masterfully crafted quilts for family and charity. Her positive attitude radiated for miles and making friends came easy. She lived her life enjoying every moment, never regretting spending hours at lunch with a friend in need, and was always able to "roll with the punches". Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Ready Funeral Home, 68 Pinecrest Drive in Essex Jct. VT. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:30 am at Jericho Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Respite House in Colchester, Vermont.
