Paul Sumner Sr, passed away suddenly on May 27, 2018 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington. Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, JoAnn Sumner as well as three children and their spouses: Kathy and Mike Metivier of Milton, Paul Jr. and Laura Sumner of Burlington, and Jack and Wendy Sumner of South Burlington. He is grandfather to Heather Gorman, Drew Sumner, Kristol Tepper, Becca Sumner, Alec Sumner, and Paul Sumner III. He is great-grandfather to: Colin and Emma Gorman, Brynne Sumner, and Addison Tepper. He is also survived by his brother Charles Sumner and his wife Leota. Paul graduated from Cathedral High School in 1952. He worked for ten years at Vermont Hardware. He spent the next 33 years at Information Services at the Medical Center which later became FHAC. He retired in 1995. Paul was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was worthy president of both Aerie 793 and the State. Paul enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling. Calling Hours will be held on May 30, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church Hinesburg Rd. South Burlington. Burial will follow at Resurrection Park in South Burlington.
