It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Paulita Anne Croker, on Wednesday, March 8, 2018. She left us peacefully, in her sleep, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Paulie was born in Winooski, VT, on January 8, 1932 to Henry Rancount and Lucille (Yandow) Rancourt. The family moved to Bennington, Vermont in 1935. Paulie graduated from Bennington High School. Paulie later graduated from Fanny Allen Nursing School in 1953 and pursued a career in Nursing as an R.N. at the Lund Home in Burlington, VT. Paulie married James E. Croker on August 16, 1954. Together they raised 6 children on McIntosh Avenue in South Burlington. She retired in 1960 and devoted herself to raising their family. She also loved to listen to music, sing and whistle along. Tatting, sewing, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, traveling, especially their moped trips to Saranac Lake and Bennington. Spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Paulie was predeceased by her husband of 39 years and her sisters Claire Bonefant and Marie Krawczyk. Paulie is survived by her children: Robert Croker and his wife Erica Croker of Burlington, Lynn Atherton of Winooski, Loreen Croker of Raleigh, NC, Steven Croker of Burlington, Patricia Dubie and her husband Donald Dubie of Georgia, VT and Mary Kae Sicard and her husband Steve Sicard of Cambridge, VT. Her grandchildren: Kevin Douglas of Georgia, VT, Leigh-Ann Croker of Puyallup, WA and Nicole Douglas, of Bedford, VA. Her siblings: Maurice Rancourt of Bennington, VT, Lillian Scrivens of Shaftsbury, VT and Roger Rancourt of Brunswick, ME. Paulie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special god-daughter Debi Bulloch The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Paulie’s many friends, at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare, for the care, compassion and love given to our mother during her stay. Calling Hours will be on Sunday March 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel 261 Shelburne Rd, Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday March 12, 2108 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church in Burlington, VT. Burial will follow at Resurrection Park Cemetery, Hinesburg Rd. South Burlington, VT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
