Rachel Lillian Jodoin of Burlington passed away peacefully, after a long illness, at U.V.M. Medical Center, on May 13, 2017, at the age of 78. Rachel was born in Burlington on Feb. 21, 1939 the daughter of the late Clovis and Mary (Ouimette) Allard. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1956. Rachel worked as a Payroll Clerk for Robinson Wood Turning Co., Inc. from 1956 to 1968. She then devoted herself to the family, who she raised with her husband Arthur. She still worked odd jobs until her health became an issue. She was united in marriage at St. Anthony's Church on Sept. 19, 1959 to her devoted husband, Arthur H. Jodoin of Burlington. There were many things Rachel loved including her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for gardening, knitting, canning, reading and rocking on the porch watching the children play. She tried to support all the children in their school activities. Her and Art attended many of their sporting events, where they kept stats on their grandchildren, Jilby and Joshua. To her family and friends, Rachel was the type of person to give the shirt off her back if someone asked. Rachel was an amazing, strong, loving, devoted, thoughtful person who always put others needs and feeling before herself. Her husband passed away on March 18, 2014, making a space in Heaven for them both. She is survived by two daughters, Marianne J. Danis and husband Donald and Stephanie R. Jodoin; two sons, Andrew A. Jodoin and Jason M. Jodoin and Fiancée Stacey Crawford. Two grandchildren, Jilby Danis Besaw and her husband Lance and Joshua D. Danis; as well as four great-grandchildren Rachel, Liam, Ally, and Brielle as well as Nolan Besaw due to arrive in June. Rachel wanted to survive to see Nolan so bad. One of her last wishes was to see Nolan but the Lord and Arthur needed her now. She has three sisters-in-law; Bertha Bouffard of VT, Cecile Dubois and her husband William of Alaska, Virginia Jodoin of Virginia and brother-in-law, Carl Todd of Arizona. She also leaves behind an aunt, nieces, nephews and many special friends. The family would like to thank her son in-law, Donald for his thoughtfulness and time he spent with her, Doctor King, the special people at Green Mountain Rehab & Nursing Home and the staff of U.V.M. Medical Center. The family plans to host a celebration of the lives of both Arthur and Rachel on Friday, May 26, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am at St. Anthony's Church on Flynn Avenue Burlington, with burial to follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburgh Avenue. All are invited to a reception at 2:00pm at St. Anthony's Church Hall. Arrangements are in the care of the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington. Contributions in Rachel's memory can be made to the Chittenden County Food Shelf, 228 North Winooski Ave., Burlington, VT 05401; or The American Diabetes Association .
