Robert Francis Murphy, of Shelburne, VT, formerly of Needham, MA, passed away February 4, 2017. Bob was born on April 22, 1925, and was a graduate of The Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Bob was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary (Hourihan) Murphy. Loving father of Kathy and her husband Terry Rabinowitz of Charlotte, VT; Bob, Jr. of Holderness, NH; Jack of Falmouth, MA; Gary and his wife Kate of Mansfield, MA; Greg and his wife Tracey of New Milford, CT; and Rosemary of Boston. Bob was a special Pa-Pa to his 10 grandchildren John and his wife Melody, Kaitlin, Max, Harry, Duncan, Ryan, Sean, Conor, Madison and Austin, and his two great-grandchildren Brynleigh and Declan. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Gallagher of Westwood. The Murphy's extend their sincere gratitude to the loving staff of The McClure Miller VNA Respite House, Dr. Frank Landry, Dr. Jaina Clough, and Dr. Jennifer Hall for their compassionate care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew's Church, Needham, on Friday, February 10th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. In accordance with Bob's wishes, all are invited to an Irish celebration of his life immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Robert & Rosemary Murphy Scholarship Fund at Massachusetts Bay Community College or The McClure Miller VNA Respite House, Colchester, VT.
