Robert (Bob) W. Wynne, the greatest Dad, loving Papa and extraordinary friend to so many people, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 27th 2017 at 8:09pm PST. Bob Wynne was born January 7th 1933 in Burlington VT. He was a proud, 3rd generation Vermonter. Bob's heritage was 100% Irish, with both sets of grandparents having settled in West Rutland from Tipperary, Ireland. Bob grew up in Burlington with his parents John T. Wynne/Mary Gorman and two older brothers John/David. He went to grammar school at Christ the King, then Cathedral High School and graduated in 1951. After high school, Bob went to University of Vermont for two years before enlisting in the US Navy toward the end of the Korean War (1953). After basic training he was commissioned aboard the USS Newport News CA 148 which was ambassador to the sixth fleet out of Norfolk Va. He was aboard the NN for two years before being transferd to Wheelus Airforce base in Tripoli Libya. He was proud having served in the Navy and saw many places around the world including Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Greece. He would often tell stories about his time in the Navy, especially aboard the Newport News CA 148. Toward the end of his 4 year service he was promoted the rank of TE1 "Teleman Petty Officer 1st Class", a very impressive feat for a service member of 4 years. After his time in the Navy he went back to University of Vermont and graduated before starting his 27 year career at IBM in Essex Vt. Over the past 3 years, Bob has resided in Las Vegas, close to his son, Jeffrey, daughter in law Heidi Noland, grandson Ryder and grand daughter Molly where they have spent time together at holidays, going out for ice cream, out to dinner, drives thru the red rock mountains and just enjoying each others company. Bob enjoyed two seasons of watching his grandson play baseball for the Red Sox little league team, one year making it to the play offs and the next year winning the championships. Over the span of Bob Wynne's life he made and kept an amazing amount friends who cared deeply for him and who he absolutely adored.
