Stanley R. Whittemore Jr., 71, of Burlington, VT passed peacefully surrounded by his children on April 17, 2017. Stan was born in Rutland, VT on May 15, 1945 to the late Stanley Sr. and Gunhild (Dahlin). He was raised in Rutland and graduated from Rutland High School. Upon high school graduation, Stan started his 37 year career at General Electric/General Dynamics. At age 19, Stan enlisted in the Navy and served 4 years on the USS Wasp. Throughout his life he enjoyed automobiles, motorcycles, going to hunting camp, fishing with his dog Hope, "mentoring" others but most of all spending quality time with his family and partying with friends. Stan is survived by his brother Gary and wife Brenda of Rutland; his boy Chad and his soulmate Jennifer Taylor of Colchester; his daughter Melissa and husband Chris Bowcock of Burlington; his fur daughter Hope Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous close friends. He was predeceased by his sister Claire Fouracre, and the love of his life Kathy Whittemore. A funeral service for Stan will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington, VT. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 20, 2017 from 4:00pm until the time of the service. Burial service will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations in Stan's memory can be made to the National Rifle Association or the Republican National Committee.
