William Henry "Bill" Jostrand passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home in Burlington, VT. He was 47 years old. Born and raised in Riverside, CT, he was a graduate of The Gunnery in Washington, CT and received his bachelor of arts from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Bill is survived by his loving parents, Wayne & Emily Jostrand of Chatham, MA and Vero Beach, FL, his brother Sten Jostrand (and spouse Kay) of Stowe, VT, sister Katie Jostrand Angell (and spouse Jake) of Mendham, NJ, and his Aunt Jane Henry Ives of Vero Beach, FL and her family. He was also the much loved uncle to five adoring nieces and nephews, Graeme and Elsa Jostrand of Stowe, VT and Jack, Addy and Brooke Angell of Mendham, NJ. He was recently pre-deceased by his canine companion Wallace, his beautiful black lab. Upon graduating from college, Bill spent a number of years working in the hospitality industry in Breckenridge, CO and also Darien, CT at the Woodway Country Club. In 1999, he moved to Burlington, VT and began a new career in web development, working at both Propeller Media Works and Scully Interactive. He loved his life in Burlington which he called home for the last 17 years. By all accounts, Bill was a warm and fun-loving person with a quick wit and incredible sense of humor. He was a great friend, loving brother and caring son. He had the unique ability to personally connect with everyone he met and he brought joy and laughter to all around him. Bill was an amazing cook, loved boating on Lake Champlain, fishing on the Cape, tailgating at the NY Giants games, playing guitar, drums and jamming with his band Pikus, playing golf, skiing, and most of all, sharing good times with good friends. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all those who loved him…and he will be dearly missed. A memorial service is planned for June 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, CT. A celebration of his life will also be held in Burlington, VT later that month.
